NEM Summit 2025 embraced projects like i-Game, ALFIE, XR4Human within the panel discussion “Media tools, services, standards, and methodologies for an Inclusive XR Media Europe”.
Makrina Viola Kosti representing the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), our Project Coordinator, had the opportunity to present our work on Inclusive Narratives: Designing with and for all through AI and co-creation, drawing on experiences from the i-Game and ALFIE Horizon projects.
The discussion touched on some of the most critical intersections between ethics, inclusion standards and the creative use of AI:
🎮 Inclusion begins at design time, not after deployment.
🧠Explainability builds trust.
⚖️ Accountability and transparency remain the foundation of trustworthiness.
🎠Many creative actors are still hesitant to trust AI.
Both #iGame and #ALFIE aim to make technology a space of collaboration, where diverse actors and staleholders can shape not only what stories are told, but also how #AI learns to tell them.
Anna Matamala representing Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Accessibility Innovation Network of Catalonia, highlighted the importance of offering solutions to a diverse society where everyone should have access to information and communication, while Rosemarie de la Cruz Bernabe from University of South-Eastern Norway focused on XR technologies and the need to align these immersive technologies with human-centric values and ethical practices.
The conversation reminded us that inclusion in media and XR is not just a technical question, it’s a cultural and ethical one. Building immersive experiences for all means ensuring that everyone can contribute, question, and co-create the digital narratives of tomorrow.
