Our project partner Raising The Floor participated in the Interfaces and Human Computer Interaction (IHCI 2026) Conference, presenting the Unique Centered Design (U*CD) Toolkit developed within the i-GAME project.
The presentation, “Unique Centered Design: Designing Digital Systems for Human Uniqueness“, was delivered by Eva de Lera, Otilia Kocsis and Reyes Fernández Medina as part of the conference session “Affective User-Centred Analysis, Design and Evaluation – The Value of Affective Interfaces, Systems and Applications.” The session brought together research exploring human-centred robotics, AI companion applications and adaptive digital systems, highlighting the growing importance of designing technologies around people’s needs and experiences.
The i-Game presentation explored how digital systems can move beyond static user personas and recognise that people’s interaction preferences continuously evolve depending on context, emotions and abilities – even throughout a single day.
The U*CD Toolkit promotes a more human-centred approach to digital design, encouraging technologies that adapt to people rather than expecting people to adapt to technology. This contributes to creating more inclusive, ethical and meaningful digital experiences while respecting one of our most valuable resources: people’s time.
Beyond presenting the i-Game approach, the conference provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers and practitioners working on innovative, human-centred digital interfaces and to explore emerging perspectives on the future of human-technology interaction.
The IHCI 2026 Conference brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss advances in interface design, with particular emphasis on affective design, interface culture and the evolving relationship between people and technology.
